National Navigation Awards Scheme HGMA deliver the NNAS Bronze and Silver Awards, which are accredited with a certificate and recognised throughout the UK by youth groups and other organisations as a level of individual competence. Your own personal experience with navigation will guide you as which level to start at. Those with an interest in outdoor activities, particularly hill walking and rambling, will be able to acquire new navigational skills whilst improving on and consolidating existing ones. Such skills are a vital component of any safe day spent in the British hills. Following training and assessment, this will culminate in achieving a nationally recognised award. Each course will run over 2 consecutive days and will be held in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. Your course will be on rough moorland terrain less than 600 metres in height The instructor to student ratio is a maximum of 1:6 to ensure you get the most out of your course A moderate level of fitness is required. All technical aids such as maps & compasses are supplied for your course On successful completion of the practical exercise and a short written questionnaire (completed at the end of second day), you will be awarded your Certificate

SURVIVAL COURSES The power to survive is dependant upon ones knowledge and the ability to use it.All survival situations are life threatening but with knowledge it is possible to survive until either help arrives or self-rescue can be achieved. Our survival & self-rescue courses are designed to give you the knowledge and skills to survive for a given length of time in a hostile environment away from immediate aid. They have been designed and are delivered by Pete Cook who has had first hand experience working & living in hostile & remote environments in North Africa, The Middle East & Eastern Europe. What to expect: You will gain a fantastic insight into survival techniques and why & when to use them, including practical teaching, hands on implementation & survival scenarios to consolidate what has been learnt. You will have the opportunity to undertake your own self-rescue on the last day or your course. Who's it for: Anyone over the age of 12 years, wishing to learn basic survival skills, including emergencies and is ideal for walkers, outdoor enthusiasts & those looking to expand their outdoor knowledge.
