Emergency procedures for families and groups

Who is this for?

This 7 hour programme is aimed at families and groups of friends who meet up to walk, trek, or undertake adventurous activities and have no requirement to hold a valid First Aid Certificate unlike NGB Award holders.

You may visit the quieter parts of the UK and Ireland and wish to expand your knowledge so if a person in your group or party becomes unwell or injured whilst on an outdoor journey/venture or even in the home/urban environment you will have the skills to help and assist them.

Participants must be a minimum of 12 years of age.

Aims of the course

To introduce the group/party to a variety of skills and knowledge enabling them act accordingly so that by the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • assess a casualties condition
  • deal with an unconscious casualty
  • control bleeding and shock
  • summon expert help
  • use equipment effectively such as first aid kits and group shelters.

This is a hands on programme from the outset for all participants.

At the end of the days training students will receive a first aid booklet and certificate of attendance, that is valid for 3 years. Assessment is continuous by the course Tutor.
