Registration Process For all MLTUK Awards, such as the CWA, SPA & WGL we offer you must first register with your home nation yourself. You will be asked to provide your registration number before booking on a course and that you have a up to date logbook prior to booking.
For the Basic Expedition Leaders qualification we register you with the NGB Sportsleaders UK on your behalf as part of your booking process.
Mentoring Service
As aspiring outdoor professionals, we understand it can be challenging finding your way around all the aspects of each qualification for you. Please feel free to call us to discuss any matter that relates to working towards an NGB qualification.
We also offer you logbook days after your course has finished where you come back and join our team of instructors as an assistant instructor gaining that valuable experience under the watchful eye of your mentors.
Former trainees comments & Successes
Coming from a project management background and looking for a change of career in my 40s I have always enjoyed hillwalking.
By chance and not knowing what direction to look in I came across Heng Genting and selected a personal navigation skills weekend.
This choice has changed my life as I soon realised that working outdoors with people is something I wanted to do.
I joined Pete Cook and his team on the Basic Expedition Leaders course in 2008 and successfully completed the award. I went on to complete my Walking Group Leaders Award and successfully completed this in 2009. I have since completed my Mountain Leaders Award & Single Pitch Award and must thank Pete & his Team for all the mentoring opportunities.

After recently leaving College and working part-time for my local authority as a Neighbourhood Warden, I booked on to the Basic Expedition Leaders course in 2009 and successfully passed my assessment. Living out of doors and the responsibility of looking after others is hard work but rewarding.
I have since secured a place at Manchester University studying the Outdoor Environment after topping up my UCAS tariff with this qualification.
