Walking Holidays North Wales . For these 5 day - 4 night you will be based in Betws Y Coed and staying in Bed & Breakfast accommodation, allowing you to unwind from the everyday things in life! Your Guide will meet you each day at 9am and you will discuss your days routes, you may wish to take in some of the Welsh 3000 peaks or some of the valley or gorge walks. We aim to have you back at your accommodation by 5.30pm each day allowing you to have the evenings free to explore the local area and shops.You will be off the hill by 4 pm on the last day of your holiday.FIRST AID COURSES Pete facilitates on all the first aid courses listed below along with a Team of Paramedics, Advanced First Aiders & Medics who all work or operate in remote or wilderness areas, Pete not only holds current first aid instructors and assessors qualifications but also holds a current Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Management and has put in place realistic training and assessment programs with 3 Different levels of training, but with the outdoor/remote element as an emphasis. The courses below are delivered to current best practice and to UK Resuscitation Council Guidelines and protocols but with the added remote or wilderness element for extended casualty care and our 16 hour course meets the MLTE recommendations for Leaders and Award holders.
Course Description This course is ideal for all Climbers, Hill Walkers, Mountain Bikers and all other persons operating in remote areas of the UK & Ireland. This course meets or in some cases exceeds, UKMTB, BASI, BCU, CWMA, RYA & Sports Leaders UK criteria for Leaders & NGB Award Holders. Your training will take place in both open and broken ground as well as theory lessons in the classroom and assessment of participant’s skills takes place throughout the duration of the course. Aims of the course At the end of this course participants will be able to: Assess and prioritise a first aid incident in both Remote & Urban Areas Deal with an unconscious casualty Control bleeding and manage shock Immobilise fractures Be able to recognise and deal with a wide range of common injuries Maintain records Use and maintain first aid kits Raise external expert assistance Casualty handover to professional services Offer on-site assistance to expert services On completion of this training course, successful candidates will be will be awarded a certificate in: EMERGENCY FIRST AID -Remote Areas This training is valid for 3 years from date of issue & it is recommended that further refresher training takes place regularly during this period MOUNTAIN SKILLS 5 DAYS Course description This 5 day course is a great way of experiencing some classic welsh peaks, whilst experiencing at first hand the beauty and tranquility of wild camping plus learning new navigational & first aid skills and includes an overnight wild camp in the hills with 3 nights self-catering bunkhouse accommodation. The aims of this course is 4 fold: Introduce the fundamentals of navigation, including poor weather/night navigation strategies Introduce you to appropriate route choice, planning and preparation Explore safety issues and emergency procedures, including Emergency First Aid in remote areas Allow you to become confidant with and enjoy your wild camping
