This internationally recognised five day course is designed for people who or are considering traveling overseas to remote areas and who wish to have the knowledge and skills to deal with common travel problems and emergencies when far from help. This qualification would also be suitable for the professional traveler.
A comprehensive programme covering 24 modules including, Poisons, Toxins, and Poisonous Plants, Animal Bites, Human Bites, and Snake Bites, Insect and Arthropod Bites and Stings, Genitourinary Problems, Altitude problems, Fractures and much more. Candidates may select to attend a Physical and Environmental Hazards workshop on the last day that best suits their travel plans or work environment in Tropical, Dry, Continental & Polar and followed by a multi-choice exam paper. Your course tutors have a wide and varied travel background and hold professional medical or first aid training qualifications and the approval to deliver this programme through the Emergency Care & Safety Institute and Wilderness Medical Society.
This course is certified as - Wilderness First Aid which is valid for 3-years.
Previous Experience - candidates should have a genuine interest in first aid and travel. Pre-course reading is required from the supplied comprehensive 369 page wilderness first aid manual.
This course is delivered in Dolwyddelan Snowdonia and you will be staying in a local hotel for the duration of your course for five nights.
Programe times are Monday to Thursday 09.15 to 18.15 plus one hour evening study. Friday 09.00 to 15.00. All meals included from Monday breakfast to Friday lunch.
